At AAE Gamit, we recognize that young people are the key drivers of future development. That is why it is crucial to provide them with access to reliable information and knowledge about sustainable energy sources today. Wind energy is an essential component of Slovenia’s energy future, and we strive to bring its benefits closer to students, present its challenges, and explore its development opportunities. By understanding this field correctly, young people can start contributing to creating a more sustainable society and an energy-independent future. They continuously demonstrate their interest and willingness to learn whenever given the opportunity.
In December, at the invitation of Prof. Dr. Tjaša Pogačar, Mateja A. Kegel, project manager at AAE Gamit, guest lectured at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, where she discussed the development of wind energy in Slovenia with urban planning students.
During her lecture, she highlighted key activities in this field, debunked myths and misconceptions about wind farms’ impacts, and engaged in discussions with students about challenges and opportunities for further development. A special focus was placed on community wind farms, which represent an innovative model for involving local residents in energy projects.
Despite some concerns, Slovenia’s public opinion generally supports wind energy, as confirmed by a Greenpeace survey from October 2023. The survey revealed that most Slovenian residents support the development of wind farms as a vital part of the country’s energy future.
Through their questions and discussions, students expressed great interest in the topic. They requested more lectures of this kind, where they could gain deeper insights and better understand the development potential of wind energy in Slovenia.
