Slovenian-Austrian consortium …

… will realize projects for wind and solar energy for more than 100 thousand households in Slovenia!

AAE Gamit, a specialist for renewable energy projects, has found new partners to realize their wind power projects in Primorska region as well as several other photovoltaic projects.

To achieve the goals of the energy transition in Slovenia, a rapid expansion of renewable energies is necessary. AAE Gamit wants to make an important contribution to this with its projects. The current goal is to build wind and solar power plants in Slovenia with an output of over 180 megawatts. In order to be able to implement these projects quickly, three strong strategic partners were brought on board this year. The Austrian companies Energie AG Oberösterreich, Wietersdorfer Group and the ÖKOENERGIE Group from Wolkersdorf.

AAE Gamit was previously owned by two partners, the Austrian Alpen-Adria Energie GmbH and the Slovenian Gamit d.o.o. The three new partners are now contributing their know-how as well new financial resources for the projects.

While Energie AG is active in generating and supplying electricity, ÖKOENERGIE has several wind power and PV projects underway and is already co-owner of the Dolenja vas wind farm. The Wietersdorfer Group is also already active on the Slovenian market with its business areas of cement and concrete, lime as well as industrial materials. Wind and solar energy for more than 100 thousand households

The new partners have joined us in realizing our goals—to develop and build green energy power plants with a capacity of more than 180 megawatts, of which 140 megawatts will come from wind power. When all wind and photovoltaic projects will be realized, we can expect to generate around 360 gigawatt hours of electricity per year. This is equivalent to the electricity needs of more than 100,000 households.

“By participating in projects that develop wind and photovoltaic power plants in Slovenia, Energie AG and our project partners are sending a clear signal of our sustainability orientation and are thus actively contributing to a fossil-free future,” said Energie AG CEO Leonhard Schitter at the start of the cooperation. As an international group, Energie AG is thus consistently pursuing its climate neutrality and energy independence strategy. The project in Slovenia is seen as a key element in achieving the targets set for expanding renewable energy sources, which envisage the production of one terawatt-hour of electricity from wind and solar energy per year by 2035.

“We are consistently pursuing the goal of replacing fossil fuels with renewable energies. Our investment in AAE Gamit underlines our commitment to expand photovoltaic and wind power capacities,” said Michael Junghans, CEO of the Wietersdorfer Group. The company has not only aligned its business activities with the circular economy, but has also set itself the goal of achieving CO2-neutral production by 2035.

All project partners will bear the investment cost until 2028. “Our goal is to develop wind and photovoltaic projects at eight different locations in southern Slovenia, with the first planned for 2024 and the first wind project expected to be completed in 2026,” adds Peter Stöckler, one of the managing directors of Energie AG Erzeugung GmbH.

“The Austrian ÖKOENERGIE group is very pleased to join AAE Gamit with its promising projects for the green transition in Slovenia. As one of the pioneers in the field of renewable energies, ÖKOENERGIE is happy to share its almost thirty years of knowledge and experience. ÖKOENERGIE not only operates numerous wind projects but, with its partner, AAE, Naturstrom, was also recognized as one of Austria’s most sustainable private energy producers. “Our expertise in project development, administration, operations, and service management of many already implemented national and international projects will sustainably support the goals of this valuable project in Slovenia,” concludes dr. Martin Berger, Director ÖKOENERGIE.

Primorska is an ideal location for wind and solar energy

All the partners agree that Primorska, in the south of Slovenia, close to the Adriatic coast, is particularly well suited for harnessing wind and solar energy, especially given their experience in this field. The planned wind farm sites have an excellent and constant wind supply and good, existing infrastructure. Slovenia also offers all the necessary preconditions for realizing such projects.

“With our new strategic partners, we have secured the key element for the further development of the project, which will enable us to increase the share of renewable energy in Slovenia through the development and construction of new wind and photovoltaic power plants,” adds Janez Tratnik, CEO of AAE Gamit. In addition to the new friendly Austrian-Slovenian partnership, Janez Tratnik also stressed the importance of transferring good practices and maintaining cooperation and collaboration at every step, both with landowners and with good relations with local communities and Slovenian society. “We are aware that only through good cooperation, mutual respect, and together with all those involved we will be able to contribute to achieving Slovenia’s energy goals in line with the principles of the EU energy policy and the Energy Act of Slovenia.”

The company will now have two directors, and in addition to the Slovenian representative Janez Tratnik, Julian Ladinig, sent by the Wietersdorfer Group, will also act as a director. Wilfried Klauss, the pioneer of Slovenian windpower, joins as senior advisor.
